Artificial Intelligence.

Novai uses the latest advances in data science, deep learning and digital image processing to analyse images of patient’s retinas expressing the DARC biomarker using Artificial Intelligence (AI). We have already developed and published results from an algorithm uniquely linked to the DARC biomarker which automatically identifies DARC expressed cells in the retina. Novai plans to continue to aggressively innovate and validate further methods.

Retinal images can provide important information in a range of diseases. The key to the development of novel and robust AI algorithms is access to large datasets and Novai will be collecting the largest dataset of retinal images in the world. We are building highly scalable infrastructure to support the demands of big data and our growing customer base. In addition to collecting the retinal images, medical data and follow up information from the patients will allow us to build a vast knowledge-base that combined with AI, will allow us to sit at the very forefront of neurodegenerative disease research.

Using automated and objective analysis of the DARC biomarker, Novai’s AI systems will enable patterns, arrangement and detection of sub-visual image characteristics to be used to develop and validate prognostic and diagnostic surrogate markers and disease endpoints. With a growing dataset, we will be able to use artificial intelligence to improve the image quality, extract information and to provide further prognostic information for a range of disease types that is simply not possible from manual review.

The developed systems will gain CE and FDA approval where appropriate.
